About

Pope John Paul II, in gold vestments and mitre, leaning close to the young Father Slattery, who kneels with eyes closed at his ordination.
Ordained by Pope St. John Paul II in St. Peter's Basilica, 1991.

Fr. William J. Slattery, PhD, was ordained by Pope St. John Paul II in St. Peter's Basilica. Today he is chaplain to Damascus, one of the largest Catholic camp and retreat organizations in the country — 50,000 young people come through its camps and retreats each year — which means he spends most of his life in front of the generation he writes for. A priest of the Diocese of Columbus and adjunct professor at Franciscan University of Steubenville, he holds a doctorate in epistemology: the science of how the mind grips reality and tells truth from illusion — which is why artificial-intelligence scientists in Silicon Valley sit down one-on-one with him, carrying questions the digital world cannot answer. Born on the Celtic Sea in Ireland, he speaks French, Spanish, and Italian and is the author of Heroism and Genius (published in France as Comment les catholiques ont bâti une civilisation), The Logic of Truth, and Enchanted by Eternity (foreword by Mark Wahlberg).

His newest book, Weaponize Your Past: Turn Your Deepest Wounds into Your Greatest Mission, will be published in the coming months.
